Where Did You Get That Name?

Kia Orana was the name of the boat when we bought her from Dick Locke of San Francisco in May 2000. Kia Orana is the familiar greeting of friendship on Rarotonga in the Cook Islands.

According to The South Pacific Dictionary, Kia Orana translates into English as "Hello, may you live!". In celebration of the Kia Orana spirit, there is even an "official" Kia Orana Web Page.
